CCs Last Warrior - Barrel Racing Sire

CCs Last Warrior

2005 Brown Quarter Horse Stallion

Sire:  Dash For Perks, All Time Leading Barrel Horse Sire

Dam:  Charmin Cherokee, Pro Rodeo mare, CFR average winner and producer

If you are looking for a powerhouse athlete barrel horse prospect with professional level talent – Perks’ colts are worth a look.

He really is everything

Perks is that rarest of combinations – racehorse speed and athleticism with a genuinely good mind. He’s a real people horse who loves attention and his foals are consistently friendly, quiet minded and easy to train. They are also consistently built right. They have muscle, substance, remarkably correct hocks and powerful hind ends. His ability to put “Perks hocks” on any mare is amazing.

Our goal here is to raise a horse that can compete with the toughest barrel and rope horses, but still be fun to ride after the cows, safe to let a kid enjoy, or just go for a ride. If you are familiar with winning speed horses, you know it’s a challenge to keep a good, trainable mind when you add racehorse speed. This horse sires that magic combination. While we are extremely proud of the big arena winners he sires, we are just as proud of the young horses that our friends’ kids are riding.

At first glance, Perks is just a plain old seal brown horse. Crippled from birth, he’s a bit plain headed, not over 15 hands, and likely not doing anything athletic when you meet him. Look a little closer and you’ll see a lot of quality. His eyes are big, brown, kind and intelligent. He’s correctly and powerfully put together to be an athlete. He really is everything I could want in a sire.

Perks was nine years old when he moved here. His first set of foals for us arrived in 2015. Of those first four, one headed south at weaning time to a barrel career. She was out of our beautiful daughter of Firewaterontherocks. Because of her, the barrel racing world knows he’s a sire.

Charmin has been a rockstar from the minute she found her way as an unbroke long two year old into the hands of Kathleen Ménard Perron. Kathleen supported Charmin through a long four year old futurity campaign with the mare winning money in the 1D of many big futurities across the southern US. By fall, Kathleen was running Charmin herself and a magic team was born. They won money at futurities in the US and Kathleen’s home province of Quebec. They finished off that year by winning money in the 1D of the huge BFA World Futurity in OKC. Since then she’s been running with the toughest 1D and rodeo competition in both counties. Charmin had earned well over $50K by the time they went to Kentucky.

Kathleen has well thought out goals and she and Charmin are making them happen. In February of 2023 she went to the Eastern Regional Finals for The American Rodeo. Only 100 horses qualified for the finals in each of the three regions in the country, so just making it was a hard earned honor. They qualified to the top ten on their first two runs and then put in a smokin fast run to win it all!

He is a barrel sire because of his pedigree

Despite his living here in remote eastern Montana and mostly just breeding our mares, Perks foals are running and winning all over the country. This is his QDATA from May 2, 2025. Of course it doesn’t include lots of earnings from local shows, rodeos, and Canada. Since a handful of his best are running in Canada, that means this number is understated quite a bit.

CCs Last Warrior is an own son of Leading Barrel Sire Dash For Perks.  His record as a barrel horse sire is so extensive it doesn’t even require mention. Years ago I had the opportunity to see Dash For Perks in person.  He impressed me so much with his solid, correct conformation, eye appeal and his sensible, kind disposition.  He was as close to my ideal as any horse I have ever seen. Even better, his pen of about 20 very well fed yearlings were uniformly good looking and well behaved.

Great Sires have Great Dams

Perk’s dam, Charmin Cherokee was an exceptional barrel mare who won such rodeos as Odessa and San Angelo, TX before selling for $100K to Canada where she continued to win. She won the Canadian Rodeo Finals.  Her only other foal is a 3 time CFR qualifier.
