Speed-packed pedigree

This colt is absolutely gorgeous! I was sure when I first saw him that I had hit the jackpot and gotten another filly out of Perks and Star. That head was too cute not to be a filly, right? No such luck. He’s a stud colt which means he’s an opportunity for someone! I’ve kept the fillies out of this cross and cannot wait to see their first foals in a few years.

Of course we think his sire CCs Last Warrior, aka Perks, has proven his ability to sire colts with speed and turn. He’s a straight racebred horse whose pedigree is packed with the best of barrel horses top and bottom. He’s sired qualifiers to The American and lots of youth and Open winners.

This colt’s bottom side pedigree is jam packed with big names top and bottom too. His dam’s sire is the amazing Champion Aged Stallion Rare Bar. Known for producing good looking horses who won on the track, in the barrel pen, and the show ring, Rare Bar was and outstanding individual and sire. We bred him to the mare who did more to raise the bar here at Aus Ranch than any horse in decades – One Slick Possum. She was an exceptional producer for us – including the dam of Charmin N Rockin. Of course, it wasn’t a surprise she was a great producer since her dam, Possumjet, had won the All American Futurity herself plus produced a daughter who also produced an All American winner.

This colt looks to have all the best traits from his ancestors. He’s got eye appeal from Dash For Perks and Rare Bar. He’s got his sire’s powerful hip and exceptional back legs. His full siblings always have good minds with plenty of motor and grit. At this point, we’d guess he’ll have more motor than his brothers and sisters but he might settle down right after weaning too. At about 3 months old, we’d say he’s the rare Perks colt that we wouldn’t recommend for experienced kids just yet. He’s just a little too confident at this point.
