Doc Firewater To You

2013 Buckskin and Dun Quarter Horse Filly

Barrel racing, roping, cow horse, mounted shooting prospect
Doc Firewater To You. Beautiful, well-bred, and very kind arena prospect.

It’s a tough, tough decision to let this young mare go.  She’s got a great disposition, more color than one can hope for, and just look at that pedigree! Who, after all, wants to sell anything related to Firewaterontherocks?  However, it would be a shame for her to just end up in the broodmare band as a three year old and that’s what will happen to her here.  She’s for sale now, but come late May, she might end up out with Perks.  If you want her, now is a good time.

She’s a dun and she’s a buckskin.  Her sire is dun and his dam is buckskin.  She should produce 75% color when bred to sorrel or bay studs.  You can see the dun stripes in her photos.  She’s so golden and pale colored she’s got to also be a buckskin.  If it is critical to you, we can test her for you if you are seriously interested.

She’s a first foal and she stands 14.2 at about 34 months. She should grow up a little more and will no doubt get a lot thicker.

Her dam’s sire, Firewaterontherocks, is the highest-earning son of the great Firewater Flit standing at stud.  His barrel racing earnings are now over $275,000 and even though his first foals are just 8 year olds in 2016 their earnings already exceed $690K and include an NFR qualifier.  People often ask us who we think will be the next “hot thing” in barrel racing breeding.  We think it’s pretty clear – Firewaterontherocks is already on his way!

And when this filly was born, we realized that Firewaterontherocks is going to be quite a broodmare sire too!  Of course we also give a lot of credit to the bottom side of this pedigree since One Slick Possum was really everything you could ask for in a mare.  In addition to being very well bred (her dam won the All American, after all) she was gorgeous, quiet, kind, easy keeping, easy to breed and a good mother.  She was so correct, we rarely had to trim her feet.  And she had 13 foals in a row.  If more mares were like her, the horse breeding business would be easy!  We think her daughter is well on her way to being an even better producer.

While the bottom side of this young mare’s pedigree is full of the famous super star horses, don’t discount her top side.  Don’t Doc was a money earning reining horse and late in life had to make the transition from being a pampered SD reining to being an eastern Montana ranch horse.  He made that transition with nothing but good sense.  And he is more fun to ride!  He’s quick, smooth-turning, and so responsive!

This filly grew up in big country and didn’t get a lot of attention.  She came in this winter to get a little work done and she really wants to be a friendly, quiet, easy to get a long with horse.  She’s young so she is not suitable for a beginner, but she’s a real sweetie. She leads, ties, trims and has been saddled and sat on.  No drama throughout.   If you are accustomed to young horses, you’ll like her!

This good looking mare is a reining, cow horse, roping or barrel horse prospect deluxe!  Sold!  Thank you Dreux from California!
