Reed Your Raise’s 2015 Colt by My Indian Money

2015 Brown Tobiano APHA Registered Colt – Sold!

Athletic Paint barrel racing prospect for sale.
He’s about 2 months old here. This colt is an amazing athlete!

Please note that this horse is sold. Keep an eye out for new listings of Paint Barrel Horse prospects. While we have fewer tobiano prospects than we used to, we still have APHA foals most years – either colored or solid. Usually both.

This colt is going to make someone a great barrel horse prospect.  Not only will he be fast, he’ll be wicked quick.  When he was about a month old we were leading his dam behind the pickup to bring all the mares in to the corrals.  Coming down a medium grade hill he couldn’t quite decide between being close to him momma and away from some of the other (crabby mares).  He was loping along, downhill, and effortlessly changing leads on every stride.  That’s the kind of athlete this colt is going to be.

My Indian Money has proven himself as a sire of barrel horses and he has certainly passed on his good looks and athletic ability to this colt.

His dam is a daughter of the great barrel sire Raise Your Rocket – a fast, turny horse we bought specifically to complement My Indian Money and his daughters.  She is fast and athletic herself as well as being good to get along with.  And while she doesn’t milk as well as we’d like, she is probably the prettiest mare we own.

His tail female line goes directly to two horses who were foundations of Merle and Rose Marie’s program and instrumental in their early success as breeders. His third dam, Reeds Little Queen, was a daughter of Rose Marie’s great stallion, Reed Silvertip. He was the last grandson of Joe Reed P-3 and a very successful local sire. Her dam was Merle’s great little mare, Chief’s Queen Bee. In addition to many other successful horses, Queen Bee’s first foal was Kristin’s Appaloosa gelding, Apache Joe A. He was a World Champion team roping horse, a 7 time Canadian National Champion and 4 time Reserve Canadian National Champion in a variety of timed and cattle events including barrels, poles, and team penning. His versatility was amazing, but this was back in the days when that was still possible. He was a state and regional year end high point performance horse and high point youth horse more times than we could count.  He won at everything from western pleasure to jumping to reining to all the games.  He was also an amazing ranch horse and he worked all week. He had just 30 days breaking by a professional and another 2 weeks tune up a year later. After that, a pre-teen Kristin just rode him.  He did have a lot of miles behind a cow. However, he was just a natural at pretty much anything you asked him to do.

As exceptional as the foundation of this pedigree is, each generation since has added more speed, turn and competitive ability.

I’ll bet you can guess that this colt would not be for sale if he was a filly!   And we will try again for that tobiano filly next year!

If you want to read more about this family of horses, Merle’s autobiography features them prominently.

He is eligible for the Paint Barrel Racing Incentive Program.  Are you are looking for a Paint barrel horse prospect for sale?

If you can ride a really good one – you’ll enjoy this colt!
